The Highlands

Eilean Donan Castle, DornieAs well as offering superb mountain biking the Highlands are a wonderful holiday destination meaning there’s plenty to do on your days off from biking or for any non biking partners as well as a great range of accommodation and other services.

You'll find castles, museums, steam trains, boat trips, gardens, whisky, ancient monuments, arts and crafts galore and visitor centres featuring subjects as diverse as wildlife, history, heritage and even monsters! Or why not try some of the other activities for which the area is famous - walking, golf, kayaking, sailing, pony trekking, skiing.....

The Highlands are also home to almost a quarter of a million people living in communities from the vibrant city of Inverness to remote crofting communities and sparsely populated islands. What these communities do have in common and something that is particularly apparent to visitors is that they are all part of an area which is culturally distinct - influenced by our often violent history, a strong cultural heritage, and the gaelic language. currently all the more evident as Scotland celebrates Highland 2007 - a year of Highland culture.
